The original description had me thinking that each outlet did automatic voltage selection. I was wrong. The unit detects the wall voltage and provides the opposite to the front panel, with an indicator light to show what is being provided. No switches, no possibility of error, as long as you match the appliance requirements to what the unit is producing. You can plug anything into the universal outlets so there is that chance to mess up. I like that it has a circuit breaker and not a fuse. It would be nice if there was a bracket to store the adapter for the wall plug. If I ever travel with this I expect to have trouble finding the adapter. I think I'll tape it to the cord, if I can still find it. This unit has no trouble handling the surge from a 1.1 KWatt rice pot. That killed a previous 1 KWatt converter. Too bad the 20 amp circuit breaker on the house wiring trips sometimes. I'm thinking I need to upgrade that... Read more |
